Explore Lake Biscarrosse by boat
With its full name of étang de Biscarrosse et Parentis, this freshwater lake is one of the largest in the Landes region. It covers 3540 ha and 4 different communes: Parentis-en-Born, Gastes, Sainte-Eulalie-en-Born and Biscarrosse. Shallow, it lends itself equally well to swimming, pedal-boating, paddling and boating. Boating gives you the chance to see the lake in a different light, and to stop wherever you like during a half-day or full-day rental. You can stop off at various beaches for a picnic and a swim, or at small marinas to visit the surrounding area. The canal du littoral des Landes (Landes coastal canal ) takes you to the small lake at Biscarrosse and thelakes at Cazaux and Sanguinet to the north. Here you’ll discover small coves and pretty secret beaches.
Where can I rent a boat on Lac de Biscarrosse?
You can rent different types of boat, with or without a license, around the lakes of Biscarrosse and Parentis, as well as around the lakes of Cazaux and Sanguinet. In Parentis-en-Born
From the campsite at Lac de Biscarrosse, the easiest way is to walk to Plage de Moutéou in Parentis-en-Born. There, you can rent a boat from Loisirs et Sensations. They offer unlicensed boats for 4 or 6 people from €65 for a half-day and €115 for a full day. If you have a boating license, other boats for 7 people are also available. You can also hire the services of a professional skipper. For a more original trip on the lake, you can turn to Oxoon, a local company that rents out round, fun-to-pilot waterjets.
In Gastes
A little further south in Gastes, several companies offer boat rentals. Gastes-Nautic-Pêche, for example, starts at €75 for half a day. Fishing equipment is also available for hire or purchase. The Nautile Club in Gastes also rents out pleasure boats. You can even take an introductory course there. The Grands Lacs nautical center rents out 4 models of boat, from 1 to 5 places, with or without a license. Daily rentals start at €50.
