The Huchet current stretches over 7 kilometers to theestuary of Moliets beach. The site, classified as a nature reserve, covers the communes of Léons and Moliets, Maa and Vielle Saint Girons over more than 600 hectares. An extraordinarily rich and unique site, a veritable link between the Etang de Léon and the Atlantic Ocean. Today, the Courant d’Huchet is the only river in the Bay of Biscay that has not been dammed at its mouth. Its exotic setting, nicknamedtheAmazon of the Landes“, is home to a host ofprotected animal species, including over 200 bird and fish specimens. It is an exceptional reserve for flora and fauna, a veritable Eden for botanists and eel fishermen.
