In the heart of the Bassin d’Arcachon, the Réserve ornithologique du Teich is a must-see for all nature lovers, ornithology enthusiasts or not. Discover this remarkable jewel just 40 km from our Au Lac de Biscarrosse campsite.

An exceptional site for protecting and enhancing nature

The Réserve ornithologique du Teich features superb lagoon landscapes marked by saltwort, marshes hosting a vast biodiversity and spacious wooded areas on the southern edge. This protected natural site includes facilities that serve both as refuges for wild birds and as observatories for the public. The Reserve plays an active role in the preservation of bird species, particularly rare and endangered species protected by national and European policies. The Réserve du Teich is supported by the Maison de la Nature, dedicated to preserving and promoting nature.

A visit to the Le Teich ornithological reserve

The “24 heures de la Biodiversité” (24 Hours of Biodiversity) are an opportunity to discover the richness of the region’s flora and fauna, thanks to the educational contributions of naturalists. The Maison de la Nature offers birdwatching activities. Guided walks in the mornings during school vacations, and in the evenings during the summer season, give you the chance tomeet the birds, for a truly exceptional experience. The site can be explored on a 6 km walking circuit. Allow 3 to 4 hours for your visit. There are 20 bird observatories every 300 metres along the way. There are four viewpoints on the site, allowing you to get up high and contemplate the Reserve’s landscapes and watch the birds in flight. You can also take photographs from your vantage point, to capture beautiful images of the birds.

Opening hours and prices

  • Open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in December (until 4 p.m. on New Year’s Eve);
  • 10 am to 6 pm January to March and October to November ;
  • 10 am to 7 pm from April to June and in September ;
  • 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. July-August.

Admission costs €9.80 per adult; €7.60 per child aged 5 and over and per person eligible for a reduced rate.
