Discoverthe Dune du Pilat

Its impressive height of 104 metres makes it the highest dune in Europe, a record that continues to evolve with the winds and tides. The Dune du Pilat is a remarkable geological phenomenon that attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year from all over the world to the Dune du Pilat, near Bordeaux and Cap Ferret.

The formation of the Dune du Pilat is the result of millennia of accumulation of sand grains, carried by the wind and captured by coastal vegetation. Its presence also plays a crucial role in protecting the hinterland, acting as a natural barrier against marine storms.

Once at the summit, the panorama is breathtaking: on one side, the Atlantic Ocean stretches as far as the eye can see, while on the other, the Landes forest offers a striking contrast with its deep shades of green. Sunset on the dune is a magical moment, when the colors of the sky are reflected on the sand, and is not to be missed if you wish to visit the Dune du Pilat.
