Tour of the small Biscarrosse pond
Leaving from the Biscarrosse town hall parking lot, a ten-minute drive from the Au Lac de Biscarrosse campsite, this trail circles the small pond to the north of the lake. The 7.15 km loop takes about 2 hours to complete. The route follows the road before skirting the pond and crossing wooded areas. A lovely walk to do on your vacation in Biscarrosse.
Around Sanguinet
This 6.7 km hike starts from the parking lot at Port de l’Estey on the shores of Lac de Cazaux and Lac de Sanguinet. The trail passes through the pine forest, passes through wetlands and then skirts the lake before ending at the port. The beach at Les Bardets is not far away for a swim after the hike. You can also visit the butterfly farm in Sanguinet.
Around Lake Arjuzanx
Arjuzanx is a small commune inland from Biscarrosse. The tour of its lake is a lovely 7 km stroll requiring approximately 2 hours. This little-known lake is a natural wonder protected by a nature reserve. There’s a superb beach where the trail starts. Then move on to theMarquèze eco-museum in Sabres, a little further north.
The Nabias lagoons in Arue
A little further east of Lac d’Arjuzanx are the Nabias lagoons. This type of lagoon was once characteristic of the Landes landscape, before pine trees were planted in the 19th century. A 4.5 km interpretation trail introduces visitors to the specific flora and fauna of the lagoons.
L’étang Noir in Seignosse
Another body of water, but the Landes has so many… The Étang Noir nature reserve in Seignosse offers some of the most beautiful scenery in the Landes along a short 1 km interpretation trail. Swamp forest and peat bog surround the pond. Observation posts allow you to see the lake’s birds, including kingfishers, herons and egrets. If you’re lucky, you’ll also see an otter or a cistude… A guided tour is available.
